Yoga and the Art of Living.

In this empowering 8 month course you will participate in a systematic, hands on approach to health, personal growth and awakening.

Being Yoga present a highly integrated approach to the practice and teaching of yoga that makes this timeless discipline accessible to all. Our philosophy is simple.  We believe that humans possess an incredible, yet largely untapped potential.   When the practices of yoga are skillfully applied this acts like a key to gradually unlock the fullness of our innate strengths, gifts and talents. 

We naturally start to feel greater freedom within the body, the heart and the mind. Knowing ourselves in this way, it is then possible to truly help others.

Our aim through yoga and this course is to inspire and support you toward the realisation of:

  • Abundant Happiness and
  • Awakened Freedom

This is a highly experiential, hands-on course with plenty of time spent applying the practices and teachings of yoga in a supportive group environment.  There is also a home-study and practice requirement for each session.

Our next Yoga Teacher Training course on the Sunshine Coast will run from March – November 2009. This course is run on a part-time basis on weekends and can perfectly be integrated with a full-time working life.

The course is fully certified with the YTAA – Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to obtain insurance to teach anywhere across the world.

 
     
 

The Mandala of the Awakened Heart

Being Yoga teach in the beautiful style of vinyasa (flowing) yoga. The course is taught under four great pillars that form a perfect mandala known as the awakened heart.

 

 
 

Awaken Heart – The course begins from the recognition that within us all is a shining luminous jewel - self perfect, timelessly awake and innately pure.  Everything we do in yoga is simply a means to help us 'see' this more clearly.  This is more of an attitude than a practice, a way of being that forms the cornerstone of the entire yoga journey.

Awakened Body: Align – The align module is concerned with all things physical.  You will develop an intimate friendship with your wonderful body, marvelling at its immense capabilities.  Physical alignment within yoga asana is simplified into three foundations, allowing your body to re-discover its perfect pose.  Asanas are adapted to the individual ensuring a dynamic evolution of your body rather than being stuck in fixed models.   

You will learn the intricacies of over 60 asanas including standing postures, twists, foward bends, backbends, inversions and basic arm balances. In addition a thorough study of the body’s anatomy and physiology, as it relates to yoga, is undertaken.

 
 

Awakened Energy: Enhance - The enhance module is all about the wonderful world of prana (life energy)  You begin to turn up the ‘juice’ both within your own practice and within life by learning to work with this vital energy through deeper pranayama, meditation and movement principles.  The focus is on how you can liberate your body, heart and mind of physical, emotional and psychological restrictions.

You will participate in a comprehensive study and practice of various yogic breathing practices beginning with re-training the natural breath and progressing to more advanced practices which stimulate and balance primary energy flows within the body.

Awakened Mind: Observe – During the observe module you will learn to access the power of pure awareness through clear pointing out instructions and meditation practices based on the ancient teachings of yoga and Tibetan Buddhism. 

In addition a range of highly effective relaxation techniques, including Yoga Nidra, are taught throughout.

Awakened Heart: Serve –
following these three core modules, which represent an intensive immersion in your own experiential practice of yoga, the course comes full circle. As you open to your own inner nature through yoga, teaching begins to effortlessly flow from this selfless space of awakened being.

Intensive and focused training is provided on all elements of teaching from correct alignment, giving adjustments, using appropriate language, planning a class sequence and teaching to specialist groups such as beginners, seniors, pregnancy etc. Teaching begins in small groups from the outset, applying what is learned on each day.

Learning by teaching is the way of Being Yoga . Students can feel confident they have fully grasped the fundamentals of practice when they are able to teach these back to others. Teaching progresses systematically by following the key principles of awakening heart, align, enhance and observe.
